Technical Lead – Software Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead – Software Engineer to lead software design, development, and implementation while ensuring engineering standards, code quality, and scalable architecture across projects. This role will oversee the full software development lifecycle, from research and solution design to implementation, testing, deployment, training, and ongoing support.

The Technical Lead will serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical guidance and mentorship to software engineers while collaborating with Enterprise Architecture and cross-functional IT teams. The ideal candidate is passionate about emerging technologies, continuous improvement, and developing innovative solutions using a Microsoft-based, cloud-first technology stack.

Our IT team serves as an innovation center, delivering solutions for internal business operations and external customers using technologies such as Microsoft Azure, C#/.NET, .NET Core, microservices, REST APIs, Azure Functions, Azure App Services, Azure SQL Server, machine learning, chatbots, Xamarin, and Vue.js.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership & Architecture: Facilitate architecture and solution design reviews across projects, ensuring alignment with technical standards, best practices, scalability, security, and maintainability.
• Software Development: Design, develop, maintain, and implement software applications that support internal business requirements and external customer needs.
• Code Quality & Standards: Write clean, efficient, well-designed, and testable code for complex solutions while promoting engineering best practices.
• Mentorship & Collaboration: Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to software engineers, supporting their professional growth and technical development.
• Cloud & Modernization: Develop and support cloud-first solutions using Microsoft Azure and modern application development technologies.
• Innovation & Research: Evaluate emerging technologies, identify industry trends, and develop proof-of-concept solutions for internal review and potential implementation.
• Technical Problem-Solving: Serve as a technical resource across IT teams, helping resolve roadblocks, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive projects toward successful completion.
• Enterprise Architecture Collaboration: Partner with the Enterprise Architect to establish technical standards, develop best practices, and support engineering training initiatives.
• Testing & Quality Assurance: Participate in the testing lifecycle through test plan reviews, test analysis, witnessing, and software certification.
• Documentation & Maintenance: Document software functionality, maintain technical documentation, and support break/fix activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Application Support & Training: Support software installation and deployment, provide end-user training, and develop supporting documentation as needed.
• Project Tracking: Utilize Team Foundation Server (TFS) to manage, measure, and track project activities and progress.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8+ years of experience working with the primary technology stack, particularly Microsoft .NET and C# .
• Strong understanding of software architecture, application design, development standards, and the full software development lifecycle.
• Experience designing, developing, testing, and supporting enterprise-level software applications.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to mentor engineers and influence technical decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• Microsoft solution certifications.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure services, including Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Queues, and Azure SQL Server.
• Experience with .NET Core, REST APIs, microservices, and modern application architecture.
• Familiarity with Vue.js, Xamarin, machine learning, and chatbot technologies.
• Experience with Team Foundation Server (TFS) or similar project management and development tools.
• Experience evaluating emerging technologies and developing proof-of-concept solutions.
