Dandenongs


The 'Dandenongs' in Melbourne's outer-east is a spectactular place to visit! Many Melburnians and visitors to Melbourne dedicate a day or weekend to the Dadenongs. 'Dandenongs' is short for 'Dandenong Ranges', which denotes the mountain range just 35km or 45 minutes drive east of Melbourne.

The Dandenongs comprises the quaint townships of Montrose, Mount Dandenong, Olinda, Sassafras, Kallista, Monbulk, Ferntree Gully, Tecoma, Belgrave and Emerald. These villages are home to all kinds of shops, and some truly outstanding cafes and restaurants. Ripe Cafe is superb for coffee, cakes and pastries. Sassafras Cafe does great best tea and scones. Kellys Bar and Kitchen is unforgettable - top steaks & parmas, drinks on tap and excellent live music almost every week.

Main Dandenongs attractions include the iconic Puffing Billy Railway Journey, Belgrave Trees Adventure and the dozens of immersive walks, hikes and bike rides throughout the lush Dandenong Ranges.
